• Define the new SOP and determine who will be the point of contact for ensuring the composter's cleaning and maintenance.
• Establish a schedule for emptying the composter (for example, many locations feed the unit Mon-Fri, let it process fully Sat-Sun, then empty the excess Monday morning before starting to input more food).
• Conduct training and post signage around the composter as a reference for employees and staff who will be using the composter.

FAQ.

What do you do with the compost?

The compost that comes out of MegaReencle is nutrient-rich and ready to go straight into soil. Most of our customers use it onsite in gardens, green roofs or surrounding landscaping. Some donate it to community farms nearby. You can also mix it with potting soil at roughly a one to four ratio if you are using it in containers.

How often does it need to be emptied?

It depends on how much you are putting in. A common schedule is feeding Monday through Friday, letting it process fully over the weekend, then removing any excess Monday morning before adding more. Most commercial kitchens find they are emptying every one to two weeks.

What types of food waste can it handle?

Almost everything organic. Meat, dairy, cooked food, fruit, vegetables and compostable packaging all break down well. The only things to avoid are large bones, hard pits and anything that is not organic material.

Does it smell?

No. MegaReencle uses a 5-stage filtration system to neutralise odours during decomposition. For particularly sensitive environments there is also an optional exhaust system that vents filtered air externally. Most customers are genuinely surprised by how little odour there is in practice.
